Stitching
Stitching is a technique used to achieve higher-resolution images for larger printing or when extreme wide-angle lenses are needed to capture a proper field of view but without the distortions or soft corners that are often a problem with these types of lenses. Artwork stitching is limited to about 39mp+ (approx. 7300 x 5637 pixels), while architectural is based on the number images needed for the entire scene, and can range from 39mp+ to 65mp+ (11721 x 6600 pixels) and beyond. Please inquire if you have any questions about stitching and would like to learn more.

Artwork Stitch vs Single Shot - Relative Size
A single 21mp shot yeilds very high quality results but there are times when a stitch shot is more appropiate. We recommend stitching for the following situations:
- You require a higher resolution image then 21mp can offer (5615 x 3744px or 15.6 x 10.4in. @360ppi - uncropped and with no enlargement)
- When printing larger than 20 x 30in, or when your original artwork and desired print size are very close to one another

- Three 21mp Image Stitch - cropped, 5060x5060px or 14 x 14in. @360ppi. Max print enlargement = 35 x 35in. Max print size can be larger for non-square artwork or if more shots are taken. Max size is highest we recommend for fine art printing, going beyond this is possible but with lower-quality results.
- Single 21mp Image - cropped, 3280x3280px or 9 x 9in. @360ppi. Max print enlargement = 18 x 18in. Max print size can be larger for non-square artwork or if more shots are taken. Max size is highest we recommend for fine art printing, going beyond this is possible but with lower-quality results.

Studio and gallery spaces often require wide-angle lenses to capture the desired view of the scene. While some lenses perform well, all begin to suffer at some point when the lens required is too wide. Below is an example of a single shot taken on a 24mm lens, and the same scene taken with a less wide lens and stitched together to create a similar view but with little or no distortion. Besides yielding a higher quality image than a wide-angle lens can deliver, the stitched image is so large that it can be printed up to 45 x 80in and beyond, whereas the single shot image on a 24mm lens would need to be kept to minimal or no enlargement to avoid exaggerating the distortions and soft edges in the corners of the image.
